The Dead-Flat Hockey Skate Stone, Burr Stone & Honing Plate—Engineered with Olympic Speed Skating Technology

Whether you search for a hockey skate stone, a hockey burr stone, or a skate honing stone, ordinary pro-shop stones share the same fatal flaw: soft clay/aluminum-oxide stones dish into a curved groove, and rubber gummy stones flex under thumb pressure—bowing into your hollow and microscopically rolling over the crisp bite edge you just paid to grind.

Salty Gold Supply Co. inside the Utah Olympic Oval is the only skate shop in Salt Lake City—and in the world—that uses Olympic Champion Speed Skating technology to deburr hockey and figure skate blades. Now you can carry that exact pro-shop bench tool in your hockey bag or next to your home Sparx sharpener.

Why MIC-6 Cast Aluminum + Monocrystalline Diamond Beats Ordinary Skate Stones

  • Zero-Flex Poured MIC-6 Cast Aluminum Core: Unlike stamped aluminum, plastic paddles, or brittle ceramic stones, stress-relieved MIC-6 tooling plate is cast and machined dead-flat so the stone stays 100% flush against the vertical side wall of your steel.
  • Monocrystalline Diamond Abrasive: Cuts cleanly through ultra-hard modern stainless runners (Bauer Fly-X/Pulse, CCM XS, Step Steel, True) in 1–2 feather-light passes and never dishes out.
  • 2-Pass Bench Edge Rescue: Step on metal in the hallway or clip a goal post in the 2nd period? Two flat strokes shear away the folded burr and save your shift without rounding your hollow.
  • Ideal Post-Sparx Honing Stone: Removes the microscopic wire foil burr left by automated grinding rings while preserving 100% of your hollow depth.

Choose Your Grit (140, 400, 600, or 1200)

  • 140 Grit (Extra Coarse — Emergency Nick Repair): Rapid bench rescue for heavy goalpost dings and rolled steel.
  • 400 Grit (Coarse — Fast Deburring): Aggressive burr knockdown and heavy edge cleanup on hard steel.
  • 600 Grit (Medium — Everyday Hockey Honing Stone): Our #1 all-around grit for routine post-sharpening side-wall deburring.
  • 1200 Grit (Fine — Olympic Mirror Finish): Sub-micron side-wall polishing for effortless glide and clean edge release.

How to Use Properly (Uncoated & Coated Steel Notes)

Directions for Standard Stainless Steel: Wipe blades completely dry. Lay the MIC-6 diamond face 100% flat (flush) against the flat vertical side of the runner—never tilted into the bottom hollow groove—and make 1–2 light, controlled passes from heel to toe on both sides. Clean steel dust from the diamond surface with the Salty Gold MagSweep and store dry.

Note for Coated / Black Steel (Step Blacksteel, Bauer Pulse Ti, CCM Black): Coarse diamond or ceramic stones rubbed along dark DLC/titanium side coatings will cosmetically scratch the coating. For black/coated blades, use a soft rubber hone or leather strop for everyday deburring, and reserve fine 600/1200-grit diamond passes strictly for emergency nick repair.
