Bont Eclipse Inline Speed Skates
Speed skating boots—whether short track, long track, or inline speed skates—do not match US street shoe or hockey skate sizes. Carbon speed boots are engineered to fit bare-foot (or with an ultra-thin racing sock) with zero heel lift so every watt of leg push transfers directly into the blade.
How to Trace & Measure Your Bare Foot in Millimeters (4 Easy Steps)
- Stand Barefoot on Blank Paper: Tape a sheet of paper against a flat wall on a hard floor. Place your bare heel gently flush against the wall and stand with equal weight on both feet (knees slightly bent in skating posture).
- Mark Longest Toe & Widest Forefoot Points: Holding a pen strictly vertical (90 degrees to the floor—do not angle under your foot), mark the tip of your longest toe and the widest inner and outer points of your forefoot. Repeat for both left and right feet!
- Measure in Millimeters (mm): Use a metric ruler to measure straight from the wall edge to your longest toe mark (Foot Length in mm) and across the widest forefoot marks (Foot Width in mm). Always size to your larger foot.
- Match Your Millimeter Measurement Below: Find your bare-foot millimeter range in the chart below—never add “extra room” for thick socks unless sizing growing young Learn-to-Speed-Skate beginners (max +3–4mm).

Mounting Spacing & Heat Molding Tips (Bont, CBC & Viking)
- 165mm vs. 195mm Mount Spacing: Most short track boots and youth speed boots use 165mm two-point mounting, while adult inline frames and many long track setups use 195mm (or standard metric clap bridge slots). Need help matching boots and blades? Email a photo of your foot tracing + millimeter numbers to info@saltygoldsupply.com.
- Heat Molding Carbon Boots: Bont and CBC heat-moldable boots soften in a convection oven at manufacturer-specified temperatures (typically 70°C / 160°F for 15–20 minutes—never use a heat gun directly on carbon/epoxy) or can be custom heat-molded in person at our Utah Olympic Oval pro shop.

Engineered from the ground up for biomechanical superiority, the Bont Eclipse system delivers an uncompromised performance advantage. The unparalleled heat-moldable carbon fiber boot forms a custom, glove-like fit, eliminating energy-sapping micro-movements and ensuring an instantaneous, unadulterated power transfer from your foot directly through the chassis. This direct connection, amplified by the Eclipse frame’s exceptional lateral stiffness, allows for immediate acceleration, razor-sharp edge control through aggressive corners, and the efficient maintenance of velocity through every stride. The frame’s aerospace-grade aluminum construction, precision CNC machined for optimal strength-to-weight ratio, minimizes flex under extreme load, ensuring that crucial energy isn't wasted on frame distortion but channeled directly into forward propulsion. Furthermore, the harmonious integration of boot and frame works synergistically to dampen road vibration, reducing muscle fatigue over long distances and allowing the skater to maintain peak performance and focus longer, critically enhancing both endurance and precision at high speeds.
