Bont GT4 Inline Skate Set
Speed skating boots—whether short track, long track, or inline speed skates—do not match US street shoe or hockey skate sizes. Carbon speed boots are engineered to fit bare-foot (or with an ultra-thin racing sock) with zero heel lift so every watt of leg push transfers directly into the blade.
How to Trace & Measure Your Bare Foot in Millimeters (4 Easy Steps)
- Stand Barefoot on Blank Paper: Tape a sheet of paper against a flat wall on a hard floor. Place your bare heel gently flush against the wall and stand with equal weight on both feet (knees slightly bent in skating posture).
- Mark Longest Toe & Widest Forefoot Points: Holding a pen strictly vertical (90 degrees to the floor—do not angle under your foot), mark the tip of your longest toe and the widest inner and outer points of your forefoot. Repeat for both left and right feet!
- Measure in Millimeters (mm): Use a metric ruler to measure straight from the wall edge to your longest toe mark (Foot Length in mm) and across the widest forefoot marks (Foot Width in mm). Always size to your larger foot.
- Match Your Millimeter Measurement Below: Find your bare-foot millimeter range in the chart below—never add “extra room” for thick socks unless sizing growing young Learn-to-Speed-Skate beginners (max +3–4mm).

Mounting Spacing & Heat Molding Tips (Bont, CBC & Viking)
- 165mm vs. 195mm Mount Spacing: Most short track boots and youth speed boots use 165mm two-point mounting, while adult inline frames and many long track setups use 195mm (or standard metric clap bridge slots). Need help matching boots and blades? Email a photo of your foot tracing + millimeter numbers to info@saltygoldsupply.com.
- Heat Molding Carbon Boots: Bont and CBC heat-moldable boots soften in a convection oven at manufacturer-specified temperatures (typically 70°C / 160°F for 15–20 minutes—never use a heat gun directly on carbon/epoxy) or can be custom heat-molded in person at our Utah Olympic Oval pro shop.

The Bont GT4 Inline Skate Set is not merely assembled; it is an integrated system engineered for absolute biomechanical efficiency and unmatched power delivery. Central to its design is Bont's legendary heat-moldable carbon composite shell, meticulously crafted to conform precisely to the unique contours of the athlete's foot. This bespoke fit eradicates energy-sapping micro-movements within the boot, ensuring an unparalleled 1:1 power transfer from every stride directly into the pavement. The incredibly stiff yet lightweight, CNC-machined aircraft-grade aluminum frame acts as a direct conduit, preventing any torsional flex and translating even the most explosive pushes into raw forward propulsion. This synergy drastically enhances edge control; the low-cut anatomical boot design, combined with its secure lacing system, allows for unrestricted yet powerfully supported ankle articulation. This direct connection empowers immediate, precise responsiveness to subtle weight shifts, enabling athletes to carve sharper turns, maintain unwavering stability through high-speed crossovers, and execute dynamic maneuvers with absolute confidence. The frame's ultra-low deck height further lowers the center of gravity, amplifying stability and grip through complex turns, granting an undeniable competitive advantage. While not overtly aerodynamic in form, the GT4's holistic design minimizes wasted energy and drag through superior efficiency, allowing athletes to maintain peak velocity with less expenditure of effort, ultimately optimizing performance where it counts most.
